The Plateau State Police Command has apprehended a gang of suspected kidnappers involved in the abduction, ransom demand, and subsequent murder of an 11-year-old boy in Jos.

On Tuesday, State Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Adesina revealed that the tragic incident occurred in December 2024 when the child, Tasiu Abdullahi, went missing. His family received a ransom demand exceeding ₦1 million, but only ₦150,000 was paid. Despite this, the child was not released, and his lifeless body was later discovered.

Adesina confirmed that the suspects responsible for the heinous act have been arrested, with investigations underway. Once completed, the suspects will face formal charges in court.

In a separate development, the Commissioner shared details of a successful operation on January 24, 2025. Acting on credible intelligence, police officers set up a checkpoint in the Kuka area of Pankshin LGA. At approximately 3:20 am, two young men on a motorcycle approached the checkpoint. One suspect fled into nearby bushes, but the other, a 28-year-old male, was arrested.

An AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine was recovered during a search of the suspect. Authorities are now focusing efforts on capturing the fleeing individual to ensure he is brought to justice.

Adesina also acknowledged the arrest of other suspects linked to various criminal activities and praised the citizens of Plateau for their continued support in the fight against crime.
