GRID DISTURBANCE, NOT COLLAPSE, HITS LAGOS: IKEJA ELECTRIC CLARIFIES, RESTORES POWER
The Nigeria National Grid and Ikeja Electric have clarified the cause of earlier power outages following reports of a national grid collapse. According to the National Grid, the incident was a “grid disturbance” that affected parts of the country, including Lagos State. In a post on its X account, the Grid stated:
“There was a ‘GRID DISTURBANCE’ before noon today. Parts of the country experienced outage. Further information shortly.”
For Lagos residents, who experienced power outages during the incident, Ikeja Electric released a statement via its X account, explaining:
“Please be informed that we experienced a system outage today 12th February, 2025 at 11:34hrs affecting all our feeders. Restoration of supply is ongoing in collaboration with our critical stakeholders.”
As of now, power supply has been successfully restored to affected areas, according to an inside source.
