JUST IN: REPS TO DEBATE TAX BILLS WEDNESDAY
The House of Representatives will today (February 12, 2025) discuss the four tax bills presented to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu in 2024.
It will be recalled that on September 3, 2024, Tinubu submitted the four tax reform bills to the National Assembly for review, following recommendations from the Taiwo Oyedele-led Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
The bills include the Nigeria Tax Bill 2024, which aims to establish the fiscal framework for taxation in the country, and the Tax Administration Bill, designed to provide a clear legal structure for all taxes and reduce disputes.
Also included are the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill, which seeks to repeal the Federal Inland Revenue Service Act and create the Nigeria Revenue Service, and the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill, which proposes the establishment of a tax tribunal and a tax ombudsman.
A lawmaker familiar with the matter shared this information with our correspondent confidentially.
“They will be debated today,” he said.
Details later…
