POLICE, MILITARY TAKEOUT 3 NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERS IN ABUJA
ABUJA – A joint operation involving police operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, the military, and local vigilantes has led to the neutralization of three notorious armed robbers during a midnight gunfight.
Three other gang members sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical attention.
According to the FCT Police Command, the operation was launched in response to a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dei-Dei ‘A’ Division on February 12, 2025, at 11:50 p.m., reporting an ongoing violent robbery in Filin-Dabo village.
Upon receiving the report, the DPO alerted the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, which immediately mobilized a joint security team, including operatives from:
The 102 Battalion, Guards Brigade
The Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF)
Local vigilante groups
Upon arrival at the crime scene, the security forces encountered a six-member gang attempting to flee into the bushes. The criminals, in an effort to escape, ambushed the security operatives, leading to a fierce gun battle.
Despite the gang’s efforts, the security forces subdued them. Three suspects, who sustained severe gunshot wounds, were rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel. The remaining three are receiving treatment under security watch.

Police Commissioner’s Statement
The Commissioner of Police commended the joint security team for their swift and decisive response, emphasizing that this operation sends a strong warning to criminals that crime will not be tolerated in the FCT.
He also applauded the residents of Filin-Dabo village for their cooperation and timely intelligence, which contributed to the success of the operation.
The Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.
