UPDATE: BODY OF MISSING SEPTUAGENARIAN RECOVERED IN OGUN FOREST

According to Ogun State police, the body of 76-year-old Sikiru Olatunji, who was reported missing a few days ago, was found in a forest in the state’s Yewa North Local Government Area.
Omolola Odutola, the command’s public relations officer, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.
She revealed that the police and local security personnel conducted a thorough search before discovering the body.
Odutola claims that Olatunji’s body was discovered dead and unharmed, raising questions regarding the circumstances surrounding his passing.
She said, “His corpse was found about one and a half kilometres from Wasinmi Abule Maria via Balogun Village in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
“According to police reports, the deceased was found lying face-up with his cutlass by his side. No visible signs of violence were observed on his body, leaving the cause of his death unclear.
“The discovery was made known following an extensive bush-clearing operation and a coordinated search effort by police officers from Imasayi Division, assisted by Amotekun operatives, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, the Baale, and local hunters.”
She added that the family of the deceased requested his body for burial while seeking public assistance to unravel the circumstances behind the incident.
“Following the recovery, the deceased’s family requested and was granted custody of the corpse for burial.
“However, the police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death and are soliciting useful information from the public to aid their inquiry.
“The Ogun State Police Command urges anyone with relevant details to come forward and assist in ensuring a thorough investigation,” Odutola concluded.
