MOB LYNCHES NDLEA OFFICER AFTER FATAL HIGH-SPEED CHASE IN KADUNA
In Gadan-Gayan, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State, an enraged crowd viciously killed and set fire to Aliyu Imran, an officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), following a high-speed pursuit involving suspected drug dealers that left several others dead.
When NDLEA agents were chasing a suspected drug dealer last Friday, the incident happened.
At least three persons were killed when the suspect apparently reversed his car at high speed in a last-ditch effort to avoid being arrested. One source said there were three deaths, but another said there might have been four.
As citizens became furious at the tragic tragedy and turned against the NDLEA officers, tensions swiftly increased. According to reports, Aliyu, an Assistant Superintendent of Narcotic 1, intervened to defuse the scene but was attacked instead.
He was stabbed while his colleagues, sensing danger, ran from the scene, according to an unidentified source inside the agency.
Aliyu was rushed to a neighboring hospital by a responding police officer who attempted to save him. But later, the crowd broke into the hospital, pulled him out, and set him on fire.
Outrage has been generated by the unfortunate event, especially from Aliyu’s distraught family, who have accused the NDLEA of failing them following his murder.
“They have not issued a statement, nor have they reached out for condolences or compensation,” a family member lamented.
The NDLEA has not yet released an official statement on the incident as of the time of publication. A spokesman for the agency could not be reached for comment.
