
POLICE RECOVER AK-47 HIDDEN IN UNCOMPLETED BUILDING IN A’IBOM
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recovered an AK-47 rifle hidden in an uncompleted building behind Heritage Polytechnic, Ikot Udota, Eket Local Government Area.
In a statement on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the rifle was concealed in black cult regalia.
“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the command conducted a search operation at an uncompleted building behind Heritage Polytechnic, Ikot Udota, Eket,” she said.
“During the operation, one AK-47 rifle along with an empty magazine was discovered, suspected to have been hidden by criminal elements likely preparing for illegal activities. However, the swift intervention of the command has thwarted any such plans.”
John emphasized the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare.
She added that efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
