The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) have pledged to strengthen their collaboration in the fight against corruption.

Through this partnership, the two agencies will join forces to enhance their efforts in combating fraudulent activities, promoting business integrity, and fostering a more stable economic environment for the country.

The collaboration was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, following a courtesy visit by EFCC Executive Chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede.

In his opening remarks, Olukoyede expressed his gratitude to the CAC management and staff for their support and quick response to EFCC requests. He emphasized that both the EFCC and CAC are fulfilling their responsibilities for the benefit of the citizens and the nation.

The EFCC Chairman reaffirmed his dedication to using anti-corruption strategies to boost the economy, create a conducive business environment, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

He said, “We have resolved to use the instrumentality of fighting corruption to stimulate the economy and create a conducive environment for investors to run their business and ensure that everyone plays by the rules.”

In his response, Registrar-General Hussaini Magaji stated that the visit would provide both agencies with the opportunity to further enhance their existing collaboration, particularly in areas such as knowledge and information sharing.

Magaji also reiterated the Commission’s commitment to supporting the President’s 7-point transformation agenda aimed at revitalizing the economy.

“The strengthened partnership between the EFCC and CAC is expected to foster transparency, combat financial crimes, and promote ease of doing business in Nigeria,” he added.

The CAC boss therefore informed the EFCC boss that the CAC registration process is now AI-driven.

According to him, CAC has developed an intelligent company registration portal which is geared towards a seamless registration process.

“The ultimate goal is to ensure that companies are registered within one hour just as it’s obtainable in the UK Companies House and in line with international best practice,” he noted.

The statement further mentioned that the meeting was attended by EFCC Special Investigation Officer, Mr. Chris Odofin. The CAC delegation included Mrs. Olayemi Oyeniyi, Director of Human Resources; Mr. Deinma Anga, Director of Customer Service; Mr. Duke Ukaga, Director of Incorporated Trustees; Mrs. Justine Nidiya, Special Adviser to the Registrar-General; Mr. Dominic Inyang, Director of Public Affairs, and several other key officials.
