
POLICE ARRAIGN CLERIC, FOUR OTHERS FOR MURDER, RITUAL KILLING
The Kwara State Police Command has arraigned a 29-year-old cleric, Abdulrahman Muhammed Bello, before a magistrate court in Ilorin for allegedly murdering a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education, Hassan Lawal.
Bello and four accomplices are facing charges of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery, and possession of human parts.
The police identified the arrested accomplices as 41-year-old Islamic scholar Ahmed Abulwasiu from Adualere, Ilorin; 28-year-old Neo Life businessperson Sulaiman Muhydeen from Amilegbe, Ilorin; 29-year-old phone repairer Jamiu Uthman from Adualere, Ilorin; and 31-year-old farmer AbdulRahman Jamiu from Elemere, Malete.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the police, Bello and his co-accused are members of the same occult group.
They allegedly admitted to robbing and murdering the victim for ritual purposes.

Presiding over the case, Magistrate Sanusi Muhammad stated that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter.
As a result, he did not take the defendants’ plea. The magistrate ordered that Bello be remanded at Oke-Kura Custodial Centre until March 6, 2025.
