A 59-year-old woman has been burnt to death in a fire outbreak in Barnawa area of Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Wednesday.
Eyewitnesses told newsmen that the incident occurred at number 31 Garba Abbas Street in Barnawa, destroying the entire building of six flats and neighbouring houses where the woman was trapped due to illness.
According to Anthony Peter, the deceased husband, his wife was killed in the fire due to her inability to get anyone to help her out of her sick bed while he was away.
The fire started in the afternoon when the occupants were already out for their daily business.
The raging fire left the entire buildings in ruins, as the residents could not salvage even a single pin.
It is a devastating situation for the victims given the emotional and financial impact of such an incident.
Some of the victims, who lost all their household property are appealing to the Kaduna State government to assist them with shelter and other financial support to enable them to start life afresh.
