KANO POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, COLLECT FIREARMS

Operatives from the Kano State Police Command have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim, arrested two suspects, and seized firearms along with suspected stolen livestock during an operation in Munture Forest, Rano Local Government Area (LGA).

The development was confirmed by the command’s Public Relations Officer on Wednesday.

The operation was conducted by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad after receiving a report from Tela Alhaji Hudu of Rantan, Bebeji LGA. According to the report, the victim, Sani Wargi, was abducted on February 12 after being robbed of one million naira (₦1,000,000). The kidnappers later demanded a ransom of seven million naira (₦7,000,000) for his release.

The suspects, Sale Alhaji Iliya (27) and Shehu Garba (45), both from Gomo Village, Toro LGA, Bauchi State, were arrested in Munture Forest. During questioning, they admitted to the crime and identified their accomplices as Ibrahim Snu from Jos, Plateau State, Yahaya Dangi from Rantan, Bebeji LGA, and Bala Snu.

Items recovered from the suspects included a Beretta pistol with breach number 0044873 loaded with a live round, two 7.62mm live ammunition, four mobile phones, 36 suspected stolen cows, four sheep, and a sword.

The police have stated that an investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining suspects.
