
LA LIGA: REAL MADRID BEAT GIRONA 2-0 TO KEEP PRESSURE ON BARCELONA

Real Madrid strengthened their La Liga title challenge with a crucial 2-0 win over Girona at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday evening, keeping the pressure on arch-rivals Barcelona in the title race.
The match saw Los Blancos back in second place, with goals from Luka Modric and Vinícius Jr. sealing the victory against a resilient Girona side.
Modric opened the scoring in the first half with an outrageous volley.
Girona, after trying many times failed to break down Madrid’s solid defense marshaled by David Alaba and Raul Asencio.
Vinicius Jr. doubled Madrid’s lead in the 83rd minute after a brilliant pass from Kylian Mbappe. The Brazilian forward calmly slotted the ball in the bottom corner, ensuring all three points for the home side.
With this result, Real Madrid is tied with Barcelona on 54 points, with the latter topping the table on head to head.
The battle for the La Liga crown remains intense as the season progresses.
