PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS OGUNJIMI AS ACCOUNTANT GENERAL OF FEDERATION
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation, following a rigorous selection process.
His appointment, effective March 7, 2025, coincides with the retirement of the incumbent, Oluwatoyin Madehin.
Ogunjimi, 57, was initially announced as Madehin’s successor in December 2024.
A selection committee later confirmed his appointment through a merit-based process involving Directors of Accounts in the Federal Civil Service.
The selection process included a written assessment, an ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews, reflecting President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency and excellence in public service.
A graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Ogunjimi earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy in 1990 and later obtained a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos. He is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
President Tinubu congratulated Ogunjimi and urged him to serve with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to the nation.
