MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED RAPE OF 16-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN OGUN

A 16-year-old (name withheld) in Igbesa, Ado-Odo/Ota LGA of the state, was allegedly defiled by Abdulmalik Sanni, who was apprehended by Ogun State Police Command operations.
The survivor, accompanied by her father, reported the incident to the police station on Sunday, leading to Sanni’s arrest.
The survivor claims that Sanni had purchased her Indomie noodles, and she dozed off in his room after eating them.
She mentioned that she reportedly had sex with the suspect when she was asleep without her consent. She awoke to discover that she was nude.
Omolola Odutola, a police spokesperson, confirmed the event on Wednesday, saying the suspect was taken into custody and admitted to the crime while being questioned. He claimed the survivor as his girlfriend.
Odutola said, “On March 2, 2025, at approximately 6:40 pm, a 16-year-old girl, accompanied by her father visited the police station to report an incident.
“According to the victim, on February 28, 2025, Abdulmalik Sanni bought her Indomie noodles, and after consuming them, she fell asleep in his room. While she was asleep, Sanni allegedly had sexual intercourse with her without her consent and when she woke up, she found herself naked.
“Upon receipt of the report, a team of investigators was promptly assigned to the case. Statements were obtained from both the complainant and the suspect. Notably, the suspect provided a confessional statement, alleging that the victim is his girlfriend.”
The suspect will be moved to the State Criminal inquiry Department in Eleweran for additional inquiry and perhaps prosecution, the police spokeswoman stated, adding that an investigation is underway to uncover all relevant details of the incident.
