SANWO-OLU TO OPEN DEMURIN ROAD, TWO OTHERS
On Thursday, Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu will commission Demurin Road in Kosofe Local Government Area, marking the handover of yet another batch of projects to Lagos residents. Two other roads in the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area—Agidi and Church Street—will also be put into service.
“It is all about boosting connectivity and making life more comfortable for our people,” the Governor said about the projects. The roads will serve as alternative links to the 3rd Axial Road with Ikorodu Road.
Demurin-Agidi Road is a vital thoroughfare that links Ketu, a crowded neighborhood with expansive marketplaces and estates, to other areas of the Local Government. It serves as a crucial detour to Ikorodu Road from the Third Axial Road at Alapere Housing Estate. It links the newly opened Sterling Heights Estate and Ramond Estates in Ajelogo. Demurin-Agidi Road connects a number of other nearby communities in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA in addition to being a vital alternate route for easing traffic flow to the well-known Mile 12 International Commodities Market and the Owode Onirin Auto Parts Market on Ikorodu Road.
Given the amount of traffic that results from its status as a crucial bypass, Demurin-Agidi Road deteriorated due to an increase in hydraulic structures and a lack of them, which had a detrimental effect on travel time. Additionally, the degradation made driving difficult for commuters and drivers.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and the administration of Mr. Sanwo-Olu approved the complete restoration and upgrading of the roads to a standard that will endure throughout time due to the strategic economic importance of these highways.
