
SEVEN INJURED IN EXPLOSION AT STEEL FACTORY IN OGUN
The explosion at Quantum Steel, which occurred along the Sagamu-Ikorodu Road in Ogijo and injured seven employees, including three foreign nationals, has prompted the Ogun State Police Command to begin an investigation.
On Wednesday, a firm employee named Joseph Adewale reported the explosion to the Ogijo Police Division.
Among those hurt are three foreigners, Ajun Kumar, 37; Chandan Kumar, 50; and Rakash Kumar, 30; and four Nigerians, Daniel Bala, 28; Mutiu Olajide, 39; Godwin Solomon, 27; and Maduabuchi Onwe, 27.
Omolola Odutola, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the occurrence in a statement on Thursday, stating that a malfunctioning piece of machinery was the source of the explosion.
The statement read, “According to the report, on March 2, 2025, at about 6:30 pm, a blast from one of the factory’s machines resulted in severe injuries to seven individuals, including both Nigerian and expatriate workers.
“All the injured victims were rushed to Rolayo Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos, where they are currently receiving treatment and responding well.”
Detectives examined the area, made an initial evaluation, and took pictures and other evidence, according to Odutola. According to her, a comprehensive investigation is being conducted to ascertain the origin of the explosion and guarantee adherence to industrial safety standards.
