The suit filed by Hon. Mudashiru Obasa to challenge his removal as Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly continued on Friday at the State High Court in Ikeja.

Justice Yetunde Pinheiro has adjourned the case until Monday, March 10, to hear all new and pending applications related to the matter.

The judge instructed all parties involved to file and serve all necessary processes to enable the court to hear the pending applications at the next adjourned date.

Among the pending applications, the Deputy Speaker and 36 other lawmakers are requesting the court to dismiss the suit or strike it out, arguing that the matter has become an academic exercise.

Two new counsels, Olusola Idowu (SAN) and Clement Onwuenwunor, who are purportedly representing some of the lawmakers, have also joined the case and filed their applications.

After listening to the submissions of all counsels, Justice Pinheiro adjourned the case to Monday in the interest of justice.

Outside the courtroom, Counsel to Speaker Obasa, Afolabi Fashanu (SAN), told journalists that his client is not only challenging his removal on the grounds of procedural flaws but is also disputing the allegations in the notice of his removal, including fraud, high-handedness, abuse of office, and gross misconduct, as he was not granted a fair hearing.
