A joint team of security operatives, including vigilantes, has successfully neutralized a suspected Lakurawa terrorist, Maigemu, in Kebbi State.

The Director of Security, AbdulRahman Usman Zagga, confirmed the operation on Friday, detailing that Maigemu was killed on Thursday in Kuncin Baba, a remote and rugged area in Arewa Local Government. The operation followed a fierce gun battle between the suspect and the security forces.

This development comes just one week after Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), visited the Bagiza and Rausa Kade communities in Arewa Local Government to console residents following the brutal killings of six people by suspected Lakurawa cattle rustlers.

“During the Governor’s visit, he assured the affected communities of immediate security reinforcements and strategic measures to combat criminal activities in the area. Today, his proactive approach has yielded results with the elimination of this kingpin. His corpse is available as evidence,” Zagga said in his statement.

He also commended Governor Idris for his commitment to enhancing security and providing continuous logistical support to security personnel, particularly those on special operations.

Zagga urged residents to collaborate with security agencies by sharing vital intelligence and reporting any suspicious activities to help ensure long-term peace in the state.
