FIRE DESTROYS BUILDING AT GEOMETRIC POWER SITE
The management of Aba Power, also known as Geometric Power, reports that a fire broke out on Monday at the company’s Aba, Abia State, location.
This was revealed by the electricity provider in a statement on Monday.
It said that the cause of the fire is yet unknown and that it started early on Monday.
“There was a fire outbreak early this morning in a temporary building on the premises of Geometric Power, Nigeria’s foremost integrated power company, located in the Osisioma Industrial Layout, Aba, Abia State.
“The building was used by a defunct South African electricity firm known as Group 5 during the construction of facilities in the integrated power company and has been of little use for over 12 years. Though the cause of the fire has yet to be determined,” the statement disclosed.
Prior to the Abia State Fire Service’s rapid response to the emergency call, the management observed that the Geometric Power crew had confined the fire.
The management of Geometric Power praised the Abia State Fire Service for its prompt and professional reaction, as well as its employees for their alertness and valiant efforts in putting out the fire.
The public’s support and concern were also acknowledged by the management.
“Geometric Power assures the public of their commitment to work assiduously for constant, quality and affordable electricity in the Aba Power Ring-fenced Area and elsewhere for the rapid socioeconomic progress of the Nigerian nation,” the statement added.
