Lakurawa terrorists in the Arewa Local Government Area have retaliated by killing eleven individuals and destroying six communities, according to confirmation from the Kebbi State Police Command.

According to reports, security forces killed a terrorist leader named Maigemu, which prompted the Sunday attack.

The attackers burned homes on fire as they invaded Birnin Dede and surrounding settlements, according to local sources who asked not to be named for security concerns. Because military soldiers were present, just one village was spared.

Nafiu Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State police, confirmed the event to our correspondent on Monday. Investigations revealed 11 dead and two critically injured victims, despite earlier reports indicating 13 deaths and the destruction of eight villages.

“The attack happened on Sunday. They targeted six villages, killing 11 people and leaving two others in critical condition. We are on their trail, and God willing, we will apprehend them soon,” Abubakar disclosed.

Alhaji Sani Aliyu, the chairman of the Arewa Local Government Council, revealed that the burial of the victims had followed Islamic customs.

Additionally, he reaffirmed that the attack was a response to the recent security operation that killed infamous bandit leader Maigemu as part of the region’s efforts to combat terrorism.
