TINUBU STIRRING RIVERS CRISIS, SUPPORTING WIKE TO REPLACE FUBARA WITH AMAEWHULE – EZE CLAIMS

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has characterized the purported plot to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara from office.

In a statement provided to reporters in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the former National Publicity Secretary of the now-defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) also pointed out that President Bola Tinubu has lost the support of Niger Deltans by siding with Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Eze claimed that Tinubu’s backing for the FCT Minister is the reason why the long-running political problem in Rivers state has not been resolved.

“Wike with the support of the Presidency is championing the plot to impeach Governor Fubara, in order to install Amaewhule, as governor.

“Obviously, Wike is capitalizing on his unholy political marriage to Tinubu to destabilize Rivers State and distract Governor Fubara, solely to ensure that their stooge, Amaewhule becomes governor to enable them rig the 2027 general elections in Rivers State,” Eze alleged in his statement.

“Sadly, for Tinubu and Wike, these evil and undemocratic plots to remove Fubara from office will not only fall like a pack of cards but will rather strengthen and energize Fubara in his concerted efforts to rescue the state from the shackles of vandals parading themselves as lawmakers.

“I have counselled President Tinubu from the beginning that his romance with Wike will not only destroy APC as a political party but will stain his political career as a democrat,” Eze said.

The proposal to remove Fubara from the Brick House or impeach him, he explained, will never be implemented because Tinubu and Wike’s supporters might not be well-versed in Rivers State politics, which he claimed is split between two blocks: the upland and riverine axis.

“It may interest the public to note that the upland axis of the state has through Dr. Peter Odili, Rt. Hon. Barr Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and Chief Nyesom Wike governed Rivers State for 24 years, while the riverine axis through Sir Fubara is just governing the state,” he added.

According to the APC stalwart, upsetting and abruptly ending Fubara’s administration would equate to the subjugation of the Ijaw nation and other ethnic groups living along the river.

“It is height of political insensitivity to humiliate an Ijaw governor out of office because of one man’s sheer greed and dictatorial tendencies,” he said.

The current effort to remove the first riverine governor and install a new upland leader is only inviting disaster for the state, Eze said.

Amaewhule and his colleagues were cautioned by the APC chairman to cease making fun of the important goal of legislation and to wake up from their fantasy.

“Amaewhule and his bandwagon of defectors lack what it takes to order a sitting governor around. They have called Fubara unprintable names and abused him publicly, not knowing that they are denigrating and desecrating the office of governor of Rivers State,” Eze added.

“If Wike is still the governor of Rivers State, can anybody try what he is doing to Fubara? Can he stomach this political crisis? If not that Fubara is a peace loving man, amiable, wise, humane, respectful and easy going man, Wike and the Presidency would have seen what fire does to the ears of a rat,” Eze said.

The MPs led by Amaewhule rejected Fubara’s request for a truce.

Eze responded to the lawmakers’ attitude by saying they had to quit playing god and pretending that Rivers State cannot proceed without them.

“It is ominous and inauspicious behaviour; an affront on the highly reverred office of the governor of Rivers State, for the lawmakers to shun a peaceful invitation by Governor Fubara for a meeting,” he said.

Fubara had formally invited Amaewhule and the others to meet and figure out how to get out of the political quagmire.

Eze called the meeting invitation a “political masterstroke strategy,” emphasizing that the world now knows that the lawmakers are intent to destroy Rivers State’s peace because they refused to accept the invitation.
