TRAFFIC JAM DISRUPTS LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY, COMMUTERS STRANDED
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which runs from Wawa Bus Stop to Otedola Bridge, is nearly at a standstill due to a severe traffic jam.
Vehicles are crawling along the route, leaving commuters angry and trapped since the gridlock started in the early morning.
Many drivers have turned to using the untarred portions of the road in an attempt to get out of the traffic, which has caused dust to be kicked up and made the already chaotic situation worse.
A number of cars and passengers claimed that a collision close to Otedola Bridge was the reason for the traffic jam.
Witnesses stated that the aftermath of the accident severely slowed down movement, resulting in the current traffic nightmare, even though specifics of the collision are still unknown as of the time this report was filed.
Mr. Samuel Adeoye, a commuter, bemoaned the situation after being trapped in traffic for more than three hours.
“This is frustrating. I have been here since morning, and we have barely moved. I heard there was an accident, but there should be a way to ease this traffic quickly.”
Another driver, Mrs Bola Omotosho, urged authorities to respond swiftly.
“The government needs to do something about this road. Accidents and traffic jams happen too often here, and it’s affecting productivity.”
