Abduljabar Nura, 29, was remanded in a correctional facility on Wednesday by a Kano State Sharia court for reportedly stabbing his neighbor over an electrical bill.

Nura, who resides in Kano’s Fagge Quarters, was accused by the police of causing grave harm.

The defendant entered a guilty plea to the charge once it was read to him.

Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, the court, mandated that the defendant be held in custody at the Goron Dutse Correctional Center in Kano until April 15 in order to be sentenced.

Earlier, the court was informed by prosecution attorney Zahradeen Abubakar that the complainant, Haruna Kasim, had reported the incident on February 28 at the Fagge Police Station.

He said that Kasim and the defendant got into a fight about an electricity bill.

According to the police, the defendant used a pair of scissors to stab the complainant in the back.

Sections 158 and 165 of the Kano State Penal Code law were violated, according to the prosecutor.
