POLICE NAB MAN FOR DEFILING MINOR IN EKITI
The Police in Ekiti State have arrested a 19-year-old man, Olajobi Taiwo, for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Sunday Abutu, alleged that the suspect committed the offence alongside his friend who is at large.
Abutu said in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Thursday that the suspect was arrested by operatives from the Divisional Police Headquarters, Oke Ila, Ado Ekiti, on March 7, 2025, at about 11:40hours.
The police spokesperson stated, “Investigation revealed that the victim, for the fear of being beaten by her mother for wrongdoing, ran away from the house, only to be lured by the two suspects to their room where they both forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“The case has been transferred to the Gender Based Violence Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, State Headquarters, Ado Ekiti, for thorough investigation,” the PPRO stated.
Abutu cautioned residents “to be law-abiding and desist from all forms of sexual crimes and other criminal acts. Those found wanting will be brought to book accordingly”.
