NEWS: WOMAN JUMPS OFF THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE, FOUND DEAD
An unnamed woman was later found dead after plunging into the Lagos lagoon near the Third Mainland Bridge.
An eyewitness reports that the incident happened at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront location on the bridge at approximately 4 p.m.
It was learned that local marine police officers reacted to the scene quickly and later found the deceased in spite of rescue efforts.
Although the incident’s immediate and remote reasons were unknown at the time of publication, observers believed it was a suicide.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police Command, verified the occurrence on Friday.
He stated that, despite the marine police officers’ efforts to save her, medical personnel from the University of Lagos confirmed her death upon arrival.
Hundeyin confirmed that the deceased’s body has since been evacuated to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Mortuary in Yaba for preservation.
