POLICE NAB 2 SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, RECOVER AUTOMATIC PISTOL IN LAGOS
Police operatives attached to the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers in Sangotedo, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
It was also learned that an automatic pistol and five live rounds of ammunition were recovered by the policemen.
The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Cletus, 32, and Adegor Joshua, 27, were apprehended around 4:00 a.m. during a routine security operation.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said: “The duo, who were found in possession of a loaded firearm, are currently undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.”
“A patrol team arrested the suspects during an early-morning operation. One automatic pistol and five live rounds of ammunition were recovered from them. They are presently in custody undergoing interrogation for possible prosecution,” a senior police official stated.
Explaining further, Hundeyin noted that “the arrest underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb criminal activities along the Lekki-Epe corridor, a hotspot for various security concerns.”
Further investigations will determine whether the suspects have ties to recent criminal activities in the area. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to help improve security.
“The case is expected to proceed to court once investigations are concluded,” Hundeyin added.
