EDUCATION DISTRICT II ORGANIZES 19TH ANNUAL RAMADAN LECTURE, INAUGURATES DISTRICT MOSQUE

Education District II successfully hosted its 19th Annual Ramadan Lecture today, which was an intellectually and spiritually stimulating event for educators, students, and government officials.

The event was hosted by Mrs. Anike Adekanye, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS), and featured a thought-provoking lecture by Sheikh Abdul Rahman Ahmad, the Worldwide Missioner, with the theme “Attaining and Managing Success.”

In her welcome address, Mrs. Anike Adekanye thanked Allah for all the honors and recognition the Districts have received over the years, and she added that it is crucial for everyone to strive for success no matter where they are.

” You don’t get good things easily. You work for it . Success is through hard work and consistency. The success we have achieved need to be managed and maintained. That is what today’s lecture is all about and Sheikh will do justice to that”. She said.

She further reiterated the district’s commitment to holistic education that integrates moral, spiritual, and intellectual development while expressing her optimism that the event will leave a lasting impact on all attendees and further strengthening the values of knowledge and faith in Education District II.

She expressed gratitude to the Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, for allowing her the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of education in Lagos State. She also expressed gratitude to the Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun, and the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hazmat, for their encouragement and support.

In the course of the lecture, Imam Abdul-Rahman Ahmad emphasized that success is not measured by wealth academic achievements, power nor popularity but by the level of faith, high moral standard, hard work, and ethical leadership which are to sustaining true success.

In his words, ” A successful person is one who is modestly successful materially, is modestly brilliant academically, and morally sound. He or she has a root and impact in the community, because the Holy Prophet Muhammad said, the best of mankind is the one who is of the most benefit to his fellow human beings.”

The commissioning of the newly built District Mosque was a major highlight of the event, and the missioner led the congregation in the Jummah prayer after performing the milestone.

The event also featured a Quran Recitation Competition and Quiz Competition, which encouraged students to learn more about Islam and to strive for excellence.

The Ramadan lecture brought together dignitaries from various government sectors, including the Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Olabode Agoro, who was ably represented by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Lands Bureau, Mr. Lamar Olowosago, and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, Engineer Toriola.

Other individuals included Mrs. Adebopo Oyekan-Ismaila (Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission), Mrs. Hafsat Bolarinwa (Permanent Secretary, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs), and Mrs. Rukayat Sanusi (Permanent Secretary, Debt Management Office).

Principals and ANCOPPS and NUT Chairmen from the three zones—Shomolu, Kosofe, and Ikorodu—were also present, and they praised the district for encouraging moral and academic excellence through these programs.
