POLITICS: CROSS RIVER GOVT BACKS EMERGENCY RULE IN RIVERS, DISOWNS SOUTH-SOUTH GOVS POSITION
Peter Odey, Cross River State’s acting governor, has distanced himself from the alleged statement made by the South-South Governors’ Forum chairman criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s decision to suspend Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara in order to declare a state of emergency.
Acting Governor Peter Odey stated in a statement signed by his press secretary, Fred Abua, that he was not consulted or asked for his opinion prior to the statement’s release.
He said, “The position of the forum does not reflect the views of the Government of Cross River State, which fully aligns with the decision of Mr. President, taken in the best interest of national security, peace, and stability.”
