
UPDATE: SECURITY GUARD KILLED IN BAUCHI, POLICE ARREST FOUR SUSPECTS
A 20-year-old security guard, Polmi Dauda, has been killed in Bauchi State.
The victim was found severely injured on March 22, 2025, after an altercation at a location near Larema Hotel in Bauchi, where he worked as a security guard.
Disclosing this in a statement on Sunday, the spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, said according to a report filed by the victim’s brother, Danda Dauda, at the Bauchi Metro Area Command, the incident occurred on Saturday.
He stated that the authorities were treating the case as potential culpable homicide.
According to him, the altercation escalated to a point where he sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
“Despite the swift response of medical personnel at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Polmi was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the facility,” the Command’s spokesman said.
To him, preliminary investigations suggest the altercation may have been sparked by an allegation of theft.
Wakil stated that the confrontation was instigated by a group of individuals who accused Polmi of stealing clothing and personal items belonging to a tenant.
The suspects involved in the incident have been identified as Ibrahim Yahaya, a pharmacist at ATBU Teaching Hospital; Dr. Musa Awwal, a medical doctor at the same hospital; Imrana Ibrahim, a local businessman; and Zakariya’u Isah, another security guard.
Wakil confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) thoroughly analyzing all aspects of the case.
“The police have taken the suspects into custody and are providing critical information to assist in the ongoing investigation. The deceased’s body has been deposited postmortem examination at the ATBUTH mortuary,” he said.
He noted that the Commissioner of Police has directed a comprehensive investigation to ensure justice is served.
The Command’s spokesman also called on the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed without interference.
