
DOKUNMU-ADEGBITE ASSUMES OFFICE AS PERMANENT SECRETARY FOR BASIC AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
The Lagos State Government has appointed Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. She brings over 25 years of experience in public service, having held several strategic leadership roles within the Lagos State Public Service.
This was made known in a statement by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Kayode Sutton. He described Dokunmu-Adegbite as a seasoned administrator with a proven track record in governance and leadership.
Born on December 7, 1972, Mrs. Dokunmu-Adegbite began her education at Fountain Nursery & Primary School, Surulere, before proceeding to Federal Government Girls’ College, Akure. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Lagos State University (LASU) in 1995, followed by a Master’s in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos in 2004. She further obtained a Master’s in International Human Resource Management from the Rome Business School, Lagos, affiliated with Valencia University, Italy, in 2024.
Her career in the Lagos State Public Service started in 1999 as an Administrative Officer I (Grade Level 09), with promotions across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). In recognition of her outstanding contributions, she was appointed a Permanent Secretary by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in 2024 and initially deployed to the Audit Service Commission (ASC) before assuming her new role.
A distinguished professional, Mrs. Dokunmu-Adegbite is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), the Association of Human Resource Practitioners of Nigeria (AHR), the Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria (ISMN), and the Association of Corporate Governance Professionals Nigeria (CGPN). She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (USA) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).
Notably, she served as President of the Policy, Strategy & Leadership Course (Set 41) at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.
Mrs. Dokunmu-Adegbite is happily married and blessed with children.
