LAWMA TAKES ACTION AGAINST ILLEGAL WASTE DUMPING IN IDIMU (VIDEO)
In a recent surveillance and investigation report, the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) uncovered illegal waste dumping and non-compliance in the Idimu Road area, leading to the prosecution of a local resident, Emmanuel, for improper waste disposal.
The incident occurred at the road median near Orelope Bus Stop, Idimu Road, on March 21, 2025. Investigations conducted at the suspect’s residence revealed significant violations, including the absence of a designated waste storage facility, a clear breach of LAWMA regulations. Furthermore, no evidence was found that the suspect had registered with a Private Sector Participant (PSP) waste management service.
Witnesses confirmed that PSP waste collection services had been active in the area just two days before the incident, but Emmanuel failed to comply with proper waste disposal protocols.
As a result of the infraction, LAWMA has taken immediate enforcement action. The residence will be subject to legal and financial penalties, and the suspect will be prosecuted. Additionally, a reconciliation process involving the assigned PSP operator is underway to ensure waste management procedures are properly followed moving forward.
LAWMA continues to emphasize the importance of responsible waste disposal to maintain a clean and healthy environment for all residents of Lagos State.
