Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, has accepted Major General Muhammad Idris’s (retd.) resignation as Commissioner of the recently established Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the governor acknowledged the retired general’s contributions to the ministry’s early launch and conveyed his sincere gratitude for his service to the state during his brief tenure.

The governor also wished the former commissioner well, calling him a patriotic Nigerian and a dedicated public servant, despite the fact that no explanation was provided for his resignation.

“We thank Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd) for his unwavering commitment and contributions to the development of Kano State right from his days in the military career, we wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement as he transitions into a well-deserved rest from public service,” Yusuf was quoted as saying.

“His tenure, though brief, has been credited with laying a solid foundation for the ministry’s take-off, which the governor believes that his successor can build on to set a pace for operations of the new Ministry,” the statement said.
