Governor Ademola Adeleke has enforced a 24-hour curfew, yet one person has reportedly been dismembered during the violent communal battle between Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin.

According to information received, three people from Ifon and the community head of Ilobu were arrested due to the recent killings in the area.

It was discovered that Lukman Akorede and three other Ifon residents had visited one of the contested lands to examine a house they believed had been destroyed by fire at the time of the occurrence.

Speaking with newsmen, Secretary of Ifon-Osun Progressive Union, Prince Jide Akinyooye, said: “Four of our people when to inspect their house at Ahoro-Afin on the tip off that Ilobu people are burning their houses. When they got there, they were ambushed, killed one of them.

“They were leading other three to the palace of Olobu after they had administered oath of secrecy that they must not tell anyone what happen. While they led them, they were accosted by Joint Task Force.

“They handed over them to them on the pretense that they arrested them while attempting to burn houses.

“After they transferred them to Osogbo, they confessed that one of them have been killed and dismembered by those that handed them over to police. They fingered the community head of that area. He was later arrested with loaves of bread used in burning houses.”

However, the Otun-Jagun of Ilobu, Chief Leke Ogunsola, denied the allegations but confirmed the arrest of one Chief Tajudeen Oderinde.

“It is a lie that our people killed one of them, they were about burning a house at Ifon when angry residents killed one of them and Chief Oderinde intervened, rescued them, and transported them to Osogbo.”

Osun Police spokesperson SP Adeola Adeoye did not reply when contacted on phone as of the time of filing this report.
