ADEKANYE BAGS BEST OUTSTANDING TG/PS AWARD AT TOP SCHOOL’S HALL OF FAME

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS), Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye has once again added another feather to her cap as she bags the prestigious award of the ‘Year 2025 Best Outstanding Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary’ at the Africa Top Schools Hall of Fame award ceremony held recently at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.

The award, which was presented by the Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Honourable Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun, was to celebrate Mrs Adekanye’s exceptional leadership, dedication, and transformative impact on education within the district and beyond.

Presenting the award to her, the Commissioner noted that Mrs. Adekanye has distinguished herself as an outstanding Administrator and a very thorough person regarding education governance in Lagos State, adding that these were the qualities expected of a Leader to achieve desired goals in an organization.

In his words, “If you want decency, if you want efficiency, if you want effectiveness, if you want to achieve performance, you just have to be very strict with policies, highly disciplined and at the same time, highly motivating”.

He noted further that Mrs. Adekanye has won many laurels across board in many competitions, including sports and culture, adding that the award was one well deserved.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Group CEO of Africa Brand review, Mr Joseph Ayodele stressed that the Award was given on merit, noting that under Mrs. Adekanye’s stewardship, Education District II has witnessed significant progress in academic performances of the Students and also the service delivery of both teachers and school administrators.

He pointed out that the Top School Hall of Fame ceremony, which is the 10th Edition, is a platform for honouring institutions that are demonstrating exceptional and consistent educational excellence across the African continent, aiming to provide valuable insights into the African educational landscape, enabling parents and students to make informed choices about schools.

In her remarks, Mrs. Adekanye expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition given to her by the organizers, dedicating the award to the hardworking teachers, staff, and students of Education District II.

She further appreciated the Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat and the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogum, for giving her the platform and enabling environment to contribute to the development of education in Lagos State.

Also present at the occasion to felicitate with the Award winner was the Chairman, Lagos State Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Victoria Mopelola Peregrino.

Other awards received by the District include that of Oriwu Senior Model College as the Year  2025 Top Performing School of The Year while the Principal, Mrs. Iyabo Elushakin also got the award of the Best Principal of The Year.
