COURT ARRAIGNS THREE NATIVE DOCTORS FOR ALLEGED RITUAL CRIMES IN ANAMBRA

Read Time:1 Minute, 1 Second

Three native doctors—Chidozie Nwangwu, also known as “Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki,” Eke Hit, and Onye Eze—have been charged by the Anambra State government.

At precisely 11:58 a.m. on Friday, three of them were docked at the Anambra State High Court in Awka. The matter has been postponed following their petitions.

They were caught and held for several offenses that bordered on “money ritual,” “oke ite,” and “making charms for criminals,” among others, approximately a month prior to their arraignment.

The suspects were arrested in February, about a month after the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, declared war on native doctors following the signing of the Anambra State Homeland Security law, which birthed the launch of the state “Agunechemba” and “Operation Udo-ga-chi” security outfits.

They were taken into custody on suspicion of contributing to the state’s growing insecurity, which has significantly decreased since the state government implemented “Agunechemba.”

The native doctors were captured at their various places by Agunechemba, a governmental security organization.

However, there were differing views on the issue because this development led to several protests by the state’s traditional religious practitioners, who voiced their discontent that they were the target of the move.
