
EDUCATION DISTRICT II HOSTS TESTIMONIAL FOOTBALL MATCH IN HONOUR OF RETIRING TG/PS, ANIKE ADEKANYE (PHOTOS)
The Education District II of Lagos State recently hosted a testimonial novelty football match in honor of the retiring Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Anike Adekanye.
Held on Thursday at Keme Balogun Junior Senior High School in Ikorodu, the match marked the beginning of a series of events planned to celebrate her retirement and to pay tribute to her years of dedicated service to education in Lagos State.
The event brought together students, staff, and well-wishers from across the district to bid farewell to Mrs. Adekanye, who has been a cornerstone of educational growth and leadership.
During her tenure, there were notable advancements in both the academic and extracurricular achievements of students in the district.
In her remarks, Mrs. Adekanye expressed deep gratitude to God for granting her the strength and resilience to continue even during the most challenging times.
In her words: “I am a product of grace of God. I am a product of God’s faithfulness. I am a being who showcases that there is God. In everything, God has been speaking and has been with me”.
She further showed appreciation to the entire staff of Education District II for the honour, stating that all the accolades that was recorded could not have been possible without the efforts of the entire staff of Education District II whom she referred to as her engine room and the winning team.
“I am deeply humbled by this recognition. It has been a privilege to serve, and I am proud of the progress we have made together.”
She specifically acknowledged the unwavering support of the Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, His Deputy, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hazmat, and the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Honourable Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun, to the development of education in Lagos State.
She also appreciated her husband and children for being her pillar of support both in good and trying times, noting that their encouragement has been the wheel that has helped her to continue to forge ahead till date.
She did not forget to applaud all the Traditional Rulers, parents, students and other stakeholders who have made it possible for to excel in the District.
The ceremony had in attendance School Administrators, District officials, teachers and students, with the symbolic kickoff of the match by the honoree.
