MAKINDE, ALLI PAY TRIBUTE AS FORMER OYO PDP GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE ADEOJO LAID TO REST IN IBADAN
Governor Seyi Makinde has expressed his condolences to the family of the late Yekini Adeojo, a former PDP gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State.
His message followed Adeojo’s burial in Ibadan, the state capital.
Makinde described Adeojo as one of the last stalwarts of a distinguished political generation, saying his passing signifies the close of a notable era.
The statement was issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
The governor also commiserated with the PDP family in Oyo State, saying, “Baba’s death marks the end of a glorious political era, as he was one of the last great men standing in the state as a political, community and religious leader. He will be greatly missed by the PDP family, where he has been our leader and icon for over two decades.
“His death will also leave a vacuum in our great state and Nigeria because Baba gave his best to serving our state and nation. It is my prayer that God will grant repose to his soul, grant him Aljanah Firdaus and uphold the family he left behind”.
Senator Sharafadeen Alli, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Yekini Adeojo.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, Alli described Adeojo’s death as a significant loss to Yorubaland, the Muslim community, and the nation as a whole.
The APC lawmaker said Adeojo led a purposeful life committed to the service of Allah, humanity, and Nigeria.
He praised the late statesman as a symbol of wisdom and a political giant who positively influenced lives across religious and political lines.
Alli noted that Adeojo, fondly known as the Seriki, was widely regarded as a unifying figure with influence that extended beyond politics.
He added that Adeojo’s deep political insight and strong Islamic values earned him widespread respect in Yorubaland and across the country.
