ANAMBRA 2025: UKACHUKWU EMERGES APC GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE
Nicholas Ukachukwu has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the upcoming November 8, 2025, election in Anambra State.
The announcement was made on Sunday by the Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee and Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, who declared Ukachukwu winner with 1,455 votes.
His closest challenger, Valentine Ozigbo, secured 67 votes, while Johnbosco Onunkwo and Edozie Madu garnered 26 and eight votes, respectively. The primary, which began on Saturday, also recorded 26 invalid votes.
In his acceptance speech, Ukachukwu thanked President Bola Tinubu for ensuring a peaceful and credible election. He also appreciated the APC National Working Committee, Senator Otu and his team, fellow aspirants, and all delegates for their contributions to the successful exercise.
He said, “I call on my fellow contestants to unite and rally around my candidacy. The most important thing now is to deliver Anambra to the APC.
“I have a longstanding influence in Anambra politics. I have been instrumental to the emergence of successive governors in Anambra over the years. I have played the role of a godfather, but now, I am ready to father myself.”
He assured party members and the people of Anambra of his unwavering commitment to their trust, pledging not to disappoint them as he prepares to challenge the incumbent administration led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
With this victory, Ukachukwu is set for a battle with Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the APGA and George Moughalu of the Labour Party.
