At least five Nigerian Army personnel were seriously injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack allegedly orchestrated by Lakurawa bandits in Sokoto State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, via his X handle, reported that the explosion occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, along the Magarya–Ruwa Wuri corridor, a known hotspot for bandit activity.

Citing intelligence sources, Makama stated that the soldiers were on a routine clearance operation when the IED detonated, resulting in severe injuries to five troops.

The injured personnel were promptly evacuated to a medical facility for treatment and are reported to be in stable condition. Their identities have not yet been made public.

Following the incident, the military deployed reinforcements to the area, launching intensified patrols and surveillance to root out criminal elements and secure the region.

While the Nigerian Army has not released an official statement, operations remain active as part of broader efforts to eliminate terror cells and restore peace in Sokoto and surrounding communities.
