
NPF OPERATIVES ELIMINATE FOUR KIDNAPPERS, SEIZE 18 RIFLES, 192 LIVE AMMUNITION
The Nigeria Police have reported that officers from the Delta State Command fatally engaged four kidnappers during a shootout in a forest along the Asaba/Agbor expressway.
According to a statement by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the operation was carried out following the arrest of Abubakar Usman, also known as Shehu, the ringleader of a notorious kidnapping syndicate.
During interrogation, Shehu admitted to several crimes, including the abduction of a medical doctor in Issele-Uku and the kidnapping and murder of Mr. Godwin Anuka’s wife and daughter in Ogwashi-Uku.
He later led the police to the gang’s hideout in the forest, where officers were met with heavy gunfire from other gang members, resulting in the deadly confrontation.
“In the ensuing gun duel, the operatives successfully neutralized 4 members of the gang and recovered 3 AK-47 rifles and 90 rounds of Live Ammunition, ” he revealed..
In another development, Adejobi further said, on the 10th of April 2025, Police operatives attached to the Kano State Command, acting on credible intelligence, arrested one Abdul Sadiq, 43 yrs, Ahmad Muazu, 22 yrs, and Aliyu Sharif ‘m’ 40 yrs at Dorayi babba, Kano State.
“Further investigation led to the recovery of 15 locally fabricated revolver rifles, 102 live cartridges, and 6 expended cartridges from the suspects. Investigations are being intensified to locate the factory where these illegal arms are being produced and arrest other culprits, he added.
