RIVERS HIGH COURT DENIES INVOLVEMENT IN ‘JUDGMENT’ AGAINST EMERGENCY RULE

Read Time:1 Minute, 1 Second

The Rivers State Judiciary has distanced itself and Justice Boma Diepiri from any judgment involving the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Sole Administrator retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, or others.

In a statement, Chief Registrar of the High Court of Rivers State, David Ihua Maduenyi, dismissed as false an online report claiming that Governor Fubara won a case at the Federal High Court against President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The report also wrongly alleged the court ordered the sole administrator to vacate the Government House.

The judiciary clarified that Justice Diepiri, a judge of the Rivers State High Court not the Federal High Court is currently on Easter vacation starting April 14, 2025, and did not preside over any such case.

Ihua Maduenyi said referencing Justice Diepiri in the report was misleading and showed a lack of understanding of the distinct roles of state and federal courts.

He confirmed that no Rivers State High Court judge had issued any rulings related to emergency rule in the state and criticized the increasing spread of misinformation by bloggers prioritizing traffic over professionalism.

He urged the public to verify court-related information through official channels.
