WOMEN PROTEST AGAIN IN RIVERS, DEMAND END TO EMERGENCY RULE, REMOVAL OF CP
A group of women once again took to the streets of Port Harcourt, demanding an immediate end to what they termed an “illegal state of emergency” in Rivers State.
The protesters called for the removal of the State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, the immediate restoration of democratic governance, and the reinstatement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu.
They also urged that military forces be redeployed to areas suffering from terrorism and violence, where civilian lives are under threat.
Wednesday’s protest is the fourth in a series of demonstrations by women aligned with both the pro-Fubara and pro-Wike camps.
Earlier on Monday, two separate protests occurred—one opposing the emergency rule and another supporting it while backing the sole administrator.
