
EDUCATION DISTRICT IV HONORS FORMER TG/PS MRS. ANIKE ADEKANYE WITH GRAND PRE-RETIREMENT RECEPTION
Lagos State Education District IV recently organized a special pre-retirement ceremony at its Sabo, Yaba headquarters to celebrate its former Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS), Mrs. Anike Adekanye.
The event drew dignitaries, education professionals, union representatives, and well-wishers, who came together to honor her remarkable service and lasting impact on the state’s education system.
Delivering the keynote address, the current TG/PS, Mr. Olusegun Osinaike, praised Mrs. Adekanye as a practical administrator, an inspiring leader, and a nurturing figure to many.
He further added that ,”she is a leader among leaders whose name must be mentioned in any history of transformational leadership in our education system in Lagos State,”
Mr. Osinaike noted that Mrs Adekanye brought structure, innovation, and purpose to the District, while raising academic standards and promoting student excellence.
“Her mentorship inspired many to rise above limitations. She broke barriers, redefined standards, and left behind a trail of excellence that continues to guide many.” He added.
The ceremony also included heartfelt tributes from prominent education stakeholders in the district. Mr. Abdullahi Laagbe, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mainland Zone, and Mrs. Florence Olodeoku, Chairman of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Surulere Zone, commended Mrs. Adekanye for her steadfast dedication to teachers’ welfare and her approachable leadership style.
In her response, Mrs. Adekanye expressed deep appreciation to Mr. Osinaike and the entire Education District IV team for the thoughtful celebration held in her honor.
She described the gesture as deeply touching and said she was truly grateful.
Mrs. Adekanye also conveyed her sincere thanks to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hazmat, and the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun, for their continued support in advancing education in the state.
