‎The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has confirmed the rescue and return of three Nigerian teenagers — Divine, Favour, and Bright — who were victims of a sex trafficking ring in Ghana.

‎The teenagers, aged 17 to 19 and from Bayelsa and Ebonyi states, were deceived with promises of good jobs by women they referred to as “aunties,” but were instead forced into sex work.

‎After being rescued, the victims were officially received at NiDCOM’s Lagos office and handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for profiling, counseling, and reintegration.

‎NiDCOM Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to combating human trafficking and called for greater accountability within Nigerian communities to prevent such cases.

‎Human trafficking will persist if traffickers and their agents are not exposed and shamed,” Dabiri-Erewa said. “It’s a global issue, and until we stop covering up for those responsible, it won’t end.”

‎She thanked Chief Callistus Elozieuwa for his consistent efforts in rescuing trafficked Nigerians.

‎The Nigerian Embassy in Ghana was also praised for its role in the successful operation.

‎Additionally, she expressed gratitude to Nigeria’s First Lady for arranging the teenagers’ transportation back home.

‎In related efforts, NiDCOM reported that over 169 Nigerians have been rescued and repatriated from Ghana in recent months after falling victim to trafficking and exploitation schemes.
