‎The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) following a raid on a suspected terrorist base located on Cameron Street in Ubahu, within Okigwe Local Government Area.

‎The operation, which was executed in the early hours of Thursday, April 17, 2025, involved the command’s tactical units working in coordination with local vigilante groups, based on actionable intelligence.

‎During the raid, a shootout ensued, prompting two suspects to escape into nearby bushes, while three others were successfully apprehended.

‎The suspects in custody have been identified as Onyekaba Ikenna Innocent (21), Ugwu Ikenna (31), and Ofor Kasarachi (37). The police command highlighted the arrests as part of its broader initiative to combat criminal activities in the state.

‎Authorities described the operation as a significant step in reinforcing law and order and addressing ongoing security threats in Okigwe and across Imo State. Further updates on the investigation and any additional findings are expected from the police.

‎Police spokesperson Henry Okoye shared the details while presenting the suspects and seized items at the command headquarters in Owerri on Friday.

‎According to Okoye, the operation led to the recovery of key weapons and materials believed to be connected to terrorist operations.

‎Items recovered during the raid include an AK-47 rifle, two pump-action shotguns, 18 live cartridges, several mobile phones and laptops, and ₦10.3 million in cash.

‎“The recovered cash, based on preliminary investigations, is believed to have been contributed by IPOB members to finance acts of terrorism,” Okoye stated.

‎He added that the command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma, remains committed to sustaining the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements threatening public safety in Imo State.

‎As the Easter season approaches, Okoye assured residents that the command has intensified patrols, surveillance, and checkpoints in coordination with other security agencies to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.
