Eight individuals, including a priestess and four local farmers, have been abducted by kidnappers in Ohebe Orba, located in the Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to Sahara Reporters, the abduction took place on Wednesday night while the priestess, accompanied by three other worshippers, was on her way to the river for rituals.
The kidnappers have since contacted the victims’ families, initially demanding a ransom of N50 million, which was later lowered to N15 million.
This incident follows the recent release of 15 individuals who were kidnapped from the Ibagwa Agu farm settlement in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State. These victims were freed on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
On April 12, 2025, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers abducted 13 people, including Maurice Osmond, his son, and another child, from the Ibagwa Agu community. The kidnappers had demanded N10 million per victim for their release.
Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, an Enugu media personality, stated on Facebook, “These pictures here are some of the victims including Maurice Osmond who had come home with his son for the transition exam into St. John’s Secondary School, was kidnapped along the road to Agu Ibagwa-Ani while heading to see his in-laws”.
The spate of kidnappings has caused concern among residents, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent further incidents.
