Two actors were confirmed deceased upon arriving at the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Owerri, according to a video released by well-known filmmaker Stanley Ontop.
The deadly event allegedly happened after they drank the alcohol that the film producer had provided.
In response, however, AGN President Emeka Rollas asked for national prayers with Pastor Jerry Eze in a post on his Instagram page.
While noting that the victims are not members of the AGN, Rollas stated that the “devil still wants this pattern of mass death repeated on annual basis” in Nollywood.
“Barely a week after the memorial service of the late Junior Pope our member, tragedy struck in Owerri involving two promising actors.
“They are not members of the AGN but this points to two things. The devil still wants this pattern of mass death repeated on an annual basis.
“If not for God the Owerri death toll could have been four persons. Exactly the same number last year in Asaba. Please let all actors and indeed Nollywood prepare for this year’s prayer outing with pastor Jerry Eze”.
This comes exactly a year after a famous actor, Junior Pope and three other crew members died during the production of “The Other Side of Life” movie in Asaba, Delta State.
Following the tragic incident, the AGN stated that it was impossible to sue the producer of the ill-fated film, Actress Adanma Luke, noting that Jnr Pope was not a dues paying member
