
ENTERTAINMENT: TEMS, REMA, SIMI TAKES THE LEAD IN ONGOING 2025 HEADIES AWARDS
The 17th edition of the Headies Awards is currently underway in Lagos, celebrating the achievements of Nigerian and African artists over the past year.
The event, marking a return to Nigeria after two years abroad, has already announced several winners in key categories.
Early winners at the 2025 Headies Awards include:
Songwriter of the Year: Qing Madi clinched this award for her emotive track “Vision,” highlighting her lyrical prowess.
Rookie of the Year: Zerry DL was honoured as the breakout artist of the year, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.
Producer of the Year: London received this accolade for his exceptional work on the track “Ozeba,” showcasing his production excellence.
Best Vocal Performance (Female): Liya’s powerful rendition of “I’m Done” earned her this award, recognising her vocal talent.
Best vocal performance (Male) A non-voting category for the single male artiste with the most outstanding vocal performance on a single song or album was clinched by Lojay, while the Best Recording of the Year went to Tems.
These early announcements set the tone for an evening that promises to celebrate the diversity and richness of the Nigerian music scene.
With top contenders like Ayra Starr, Rema, and Tems leading the nominations, anticipation remains high for the remaining categories.
