In Gayi village, Kalgo Local Government Area, Kebbi State, a woman was kidnapped from her married house. Her family paid a ransom of N1.5 million and N20,000 in recharge cards, allowing her to return home.

In Goron Dutse village, Suru Local Government Area, a significant distance from the original location, the victim, Nafisa Bala Usman, was freed on Friday and picked up by her family.

The elder brother of Nafisa’s husband, Alhaji Dalhatu Gayi, confirmed her release to reporters in Kebbi on Tuesday, saying she was discovered in stable condition.

He expressed gratitude to the Chairman of Kalgo LGA, Alhaji Yahya Kuka, as well as family members and friends who contributed to the ransom payment.

“We appreciate everyone who supported us, especially the Kalgo LGA chairman, for their efforts in ensuring her safe return,” he said.

Gayi also called on security agencies to intensify operations in and around Goron Dutse, which he described as a suspected hideout for kidnappers.

He said that the majority of the kidnappers were Fulani and that they collaborated with anonymous informants. They are a major threat to communities in the area, he said.

The Kebbi State Police Command has not yet released an official comment about the incident at the time this article was filed.
