‎A two-year-old girl trafficked from Abuja to Aba and sold for N100,000 has been rescued, according to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

‎The rescue operation took place on May 8, 2025, and was carried out by NAPTIP’s Abia State Command after a suspected trafficker was apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS).

‎In a statement released on Friday, NAPTIP revealed that the girl—temporarily named Chiamaka Favor for her safety—was taken from Abuja in February and sold to an unidentified buyer in Aba.

‎”The suspected trafficker, arrested by DSS Abia and handed over to NAPTIP, is alleged to have worked with three trafficking syndicates from Abuja and sold the child to a buyer for ₦100,000,” the agency said.

‎Authorities have launched a nationwide search for the girl’s biological parents or any relatives.

‎NAPTIP is urging anyone with useful information to contact the agency immediately to assist in reuniting the child with her family.
