TWO-YEAR-OLD GIRL SOLD FOR N100,000 IN ABUJA RESCUED IN ABA
A two-year-old girl trafficked from Abuja to Aba and sold for N100,000 has been rescued, according to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
The rescue operation took place on May 8, 2025, and was carried out by NAPTIP’s Abia State Command after a suspected trafficker was apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS).
In a statement released on Friday, NAPTIP revealed that the girl—temporarily named Chiamaka Favor for her safety—was taken from Abuja in February and sold to an unidentified buyer in Aba.
”The suspected trafficker, arrested by DSS Abia and handed over to NAPTIP, is alleged to have worked with three trafficking syndicates from Abuja and sold the child to a buyer for ₦100,000,” the agency said.
Authorities have launched a nationwide search for the girl’s biological parents or any relatives.
NAPTIP is urging anyone with useful information to contact the agency immediately to assist in reuniting the child with her family.
